TikTok Algorithm - What is it? And How to Reset it?

Can someone explain what the TikTok algorithm is and how it works? I’m trying to understand what determines what shows up on my feed.

The TikTok algorithm is a system that shows you videos based on what you watch, like, comment on, and how long you watch them. To reset it, clear your cache, remove watch history, and start interacting with new content so TikTok relearns your preferences.

The TikTok algorithm decides which videos appear on your For You Page (FYP) based on your likes, watch time, shares, and interactions. To reset it, you can clear your cache, unlike or unfollow content you no longer like, and interact with new types of videos. This retrains TikTok to show content that better matches your current interests.

The TikTok algorithm is a recommendation system that personalizes your "For You" feed based on user interactions, video details, and device/account settings.

You cannot fully reset it, but you can refresh it by:
  1. Clearing your watch history in settings.
  2. Engaging with new content types.

The TikTok algorithm decides what appears on your For You page based on your likes, watch time, comments, shares, and follows.
To reset it, go to Profile → Menu → Settings & privacy → Content preferences → Refresh your For You feed, or reduce engagement with unwanted content and interact with new topics.

Tik Tok algorithm The Tik Tok algorithm is the system that determines the videos to be displayed on your For You page. It examines your activities, i.e. likes, comments, watch time, shares, follows, video details and device settings to display what is likely to attract your interests.

The TikTok algorithm mostly tracks what you watch, how long you watch it, and whether you interact. Even pausing on a video matters. If your feed feels weird, start liking and watching content you actually enjoy, and it usually fixes itself over time.

The TikTok algorithm analyzes user behavior like watch time, likes, comments, and shares to recommend content. You can reset it by clearing watch history, interacting with new content, unfollowing irrelevant accounts, and using the “Not Interested” option regularly.

TikTok's algorithm is the engine that picks and delivers the most relevant videos onto your For You page. It pays attention to your interactions, such as videos you watch, like, comment on, share, or skip.

There are two ways to reset your TikTok algorithm. Firstly, through an app update like Settings & privacy Content preferences Refresh your For You feed. Or the other way is manual, where you clean your watch history, remove likes to irrelevant videos, and actively engage with the kind of content that you want to see in the future.
