How to get effects on Google Duo?

I just started using Google Duo, and I saw that some folks had fun filters and fancy visual effects during video chats. I don't see a way to turn on effects in the app. How can you get effects on Google Duo, and are they available on both Android and iPhone? Also, do I have to update the app or change any particular settings?

To get effects on Google Duo (now part of Google Meet), open the app and start a video call. During the call, tap the screen and look for the effects or filters icon (usually a sparkle or star symbol). Tap it to browse face filters, backgrounds, and visual effects, then select one to apply in real time. Make sure your app is updated to the latest version to access all available effects.
