How Does Whatsapp Make Money?

I’m looking for help or suggestions to understand how WhatsApp makes money, including its revenue model and main sources of income.

WhatsApp does not rely on advertisements to make money but business services. Corporations use WhatsApp Business API to send messages to customers, notifications, support and operate customer-service chatbots at a fee. Another source of revenue WhatsApp obtains are click to WhatsApp ads on Facebook and Instagram that send users to paid business chats.

WhatsApp is currently generating its profits mainly through its Business Platform. It also bills medium and large businesses on conversation-based messaging (API), and the prices depending on the category such as marketing or utility. It also makes profits through transaction fees through WhatsApp Pay in certain regions.

WhatsApp relies on business API services, enterprise tools, and integrations as sources of revenue instead of the traditional user subscription fees, aiming to sell features to businesses instead of free personal messaging. (General public info.)

I’m trying to wrap my head around WhatsApp’s revenue model. Everyone uses it for free, so how the heck does it make money? I’ve heard things like business APIs and ads rumors, but I’m not sure what’s real. Any clear explanation of WhatsApp’s main income sources, how sustainable they are, and whether users are being monetized would be super helpful!

WhatsApp makes money mainly through business services, charging companies for using WhatsApp Business API to communicate with customers, while the app itself remains free for users.

The primary source of revenue of WhatsApp is the WhatsApp Business platform where businesses are required to pay money to communicate with their customers specifically customer support and notification. WhatsApp does not advertise in the private conversations and does not make regular users pay to chat.
