yeah error 153 on older ipads usually points to the ios version being too old. tbh it happens with a lot of streaming apps or even just browser videos cause they update their security and codecs. so if your ipad cant update to a newer ios, it just gets locked out. my sister had the same thing with her ipad mini 1, couldnt watch netflix anymore.
