why is my wifi so slow at night

Wi-Fi may slow at night due to network congestion when many people are online, especially in shared networks or neighborhoods. Internet Service Providers may also throttle speeds during peak hours. Background updates, streaming, or multiple devices using bandwidth at the same time can further reduce your connection speed.

Yeah, that’s super common, evenings are peak time so everyone’s online and it slows things down. Happens to me too, my speed drops a lot after dinner

Yeah, that’s super common, evenings are peak time so everyone’s online and it slows things down; I notice it too around dinner time at my place.

Most of the time, it’s just network congestion at night, everyone in your area is streaming, gaming, or scrolling, so your ISP’s bandwidth gets shared and slows down; I’ve noticed it myself, especially around 8–11 PM. It can also be worse if you’re on WiFi (interference from nearby routers) or if your plan has peak-time throttling, so switching to a wired connection or upgrading the plan/router can help a bit.

Wi-Fi slows at night due to network congestion, more users online, multiple devices, and heavy streaming. ISP throttling or weak routers can also reduce speeds during peak hours, causing slower internet performance.
