Remote desktop error

Hi! I need some advice. I’m trying to use Remote Desktop, but I keep getting error code 0x104 and can’t connect.
Has anyone run into this issue before? What could be causing it, and how can I fix it?

I’ve run into error 0x104 before; it usually means your PC isn’t reachable over the network. First, make sure Remote Desktop is actually enabled on the target PC and that it’s turned on (not sleeping), then check both devices are on the same network or that port 3389 is open if you’re connecting remotely. Also, allow Remote Desktop through Windows Firewall and confirm you’re using the correct PC name/IP. Most of the time, for me, it was either the firewall blocking it or using the wrong network profile (set it to Private).

Error 0x104 in Remote Desktop usually means your PC can’t find or connect to the remote computer.

Common fixes:
  • Check both devices are on the same network (or correct IP)
  • Allow Remote Desktop through Windows Firewall
  • Make sure Remote Desktop is enabled on the target PC
  • Use the correct PC name/IP address
  • Restart both devices

A remote desktop error occurs when a connection between devices fails due to network issues, incorrect credentials, firewall restrictions, or disabled remote access settings. Check internet connectivity, enable remote desktop, verify login details, and ensure ports like 3389 are open to resolve the issue.
