Is Character AI down right now? I’m experiencing issues accessing it and want to know if others are having the same problem or if there’s any official update on outages or downtime. Any help or status information would be great!

At this moment, Character AI is not shut down formally; however, a lot of people have mentioned that the website is loading slowly, they are having trouble logging in, or their chats are not responding. These kinds of situations typically indicate problems with servers that are only temporary. Most of the time, these interruptions are resolved in a short time, so the surest way to find out is to look at their status page or see if there are any new announcements on social media.

Character.ai is at the moment operational as of December 26, 2025. Although there were some big outages earlier this week (December 2325), the status pages and live monitors are all reporting that everything is up.
