intel core i5-12500t for a server?

The Intel Core i5-12500T works for a lightweight server—good efficiency, low power use, and decent performance. Suitable for small business tasks, hosting, or home labs, but not ideal for heavy virtualization, large databases, or high-concurrency enterprise workloads.

The Intel Core i5-12500T is excellent for a home NAS, but its 35W TDP limits peak power, not idle draw. In modern CPUs, "T" models and standard models idle similarly. You save power through efficient components (motherboard, PSU) rather than the processor's TDP rating alone.

thats really good to know thanks for the info

yeah that makes a lot of sense. tbh i always thought 'T' chips were just universally more efficient even at idle. good to know it's really the whole system, like mobo and psu, that pulls most of the weight for low power draw. kinda frustrating when you think you're getting a huge saving just from the cpu spec.
