Cyber threats are getting smarter. What are the absolute essential steps everyone should take to lock down their home routers and protect personal data?
The first step that you take to secure your home Wi-Fi network is to change the default password and Wi-Fi name of the router. Encryption should be strong such as WPA3 or WPA2. Upgrade software on equipment of such brands as TP-Link. Turn off remote access and WPS. Establish a guest network to use by visitors, and make use of strong unique passwords. Your network is also protected by ensuring that monitoring of connected devices is done to prevent unauthorized access.
Change the default router password, enable WPA3 or WPA2 encryption, and use a strong, unique Wi-Fi password. Disable WPS, update firmware regularly, and hide your network SSID. Limit connected devices, enable firewall protection, and consider a guest network for visitors.
"I'd recommend setting up WPA2 encryption and creating a strong, unique password for your Wi-Fi network. Also, make sure to change the default admin username and password for your router. Enable MAC address filtering and consider implementing a guest network to keep your main network secure. It's also a good idea to regularly update your router's firmware to stay protected."

yeah, everyone's got some really solid points here. i think the biggest ones are definitely changing the default admin login for your router *and* your wifi password to something super strong. also, firmware updates are super important, don't just set it and forget it. gotta turn off WPS too, that's a security hole a lot of people miss. setting up a guest network for visitors helps keep your main stuff private too, imo.
