How To Schedule A Text On iPhone?

Does anyone know how to schedule a text message on an iPhone? I’d love to be able to send messages at specific times, but I’m not sure how to set it up. Any tips or apps that can help?

Using iOS 18 or above, open the Messages, tap +, and then choose Send Later and then choose the time and date you want the message to be sent.

With older versions of iOS, you will need to use the Shortcuts app: open an Automation based on Time of Day, select the Send Message action, and enter the recipient and text.

To schedule a text on iPhone, open the Messages app, type your message, then tap and hold the send button. Select Schedule Message, choose the date and time, and confirm. The message will automatically send at the scheduled time using the built-in iOS Send Later feature.

Direct scheduling of the iPhone Messages app is not possible, but you can use the Shortcuts:

1. Open Open Shortcuts app Tap Automation.
2. Click on the option of creating individual automation by clicking on Create Personal Automation and then selecting the option of Time of Day.
3. Drag and drop = Tap Add Action and then select Send Message.
4. Enter recipient and message.
5. Set schedule and confirm.

Instead, third party applications (such as Scheduled or Reminder-based apps) will also work.

To schedule a text on iPhone, open the Messages app, type your message, press and hold the send button, select Schedule Message, choose date and time, then confirm. Your message will send automatically at the scheduled time.

On Messages (iOS 18+): Open a chat, tap the + icon, then Send Later, then select your time/date, write your message then tap send. To do it in older iOS, add a time-based automation with the help of the Shortcuts app.

You can’t directly schedule texts in the iPhone Messages app, but you can use the Shortcuts app:
  1. Open Shortcuts → tap Automation.
  2. Create Personal Automation → choose Time of Day.
  3. Add Action → Send Message.
  4. Enter recipient and text, then set schedule.
