How To Replace Airtag Battery?

Does anyone know how to replace the battery in an AirTag? I’m having trouble figuring out how to open it and what battery to use. Any step-by-step advice or tips would be really helpful!

I’ve done this a few times — just press and twist the stainless steel back of the AirTag counterclockwise, remove the old battery, and pop in a new CR2032 coin cell (positive side up). Then twist the cover back on until it clicks, and it’s good to go.

To replace an AirTag battery: press and twist the metal back cover counterclockwise to open it, remove the old CR2032 battery, insert a new CR2032 with the positive side up, then twist the cover clockwise until it locks. A chime confirms successful replacement.

To change the battery, unscrew the stainless-steel back/back counterclockwise and then remove the cover before discarding the old battery and inserting a new CR2032 coin cell battery (with the positive side facing up) and screwing the cover back in place until it clicks.
