How to Know if Someone Blocked You on iMessage?

Look for these typical signs to find out if you've been blocked on iMessage:

  • No "Delivered" Status: Your messages stay blue, but neither "Delivered" nor "Read" are ever displayed beneath them.
  • Green Bubbles: Previously blue bubbles turn green (SMS), but this can also indicate that there is no internet.
  • One-Ring Voicemail: Calls go straight to voicemail after ringing precisely once.
  • Automated Response Loss: Their "Focus" or "Do Not Disturb" status is no longer visible.

We may be blocked on iMessage if your messages stay blue but never show “Delivered,” or switch to green SMS. Calls go straight to voicemail, and FaceTime fails. However, network issues or Do Not Disturb can cause similar signs, so it isn’t always certain.

There’s no official notification if someone blocks you on iMessage, but a few signs can hint at it. If your messages stay blue but never show “Delivered,” or suddenly turn green (sending as SMS instead), that can be a clue—though network issues can cause this too. FaceTime calls failing to connect and calls going straight to voicemail may also suggest a block. However, none of these are 100% reliable on their own, as technical problems or Do Not Disturb settings can look similar.

In case you get blocked by a person on iMessage, the things you say could be ticked once or not at all, will never go to the Delivered status, your text messages could change their color to green from blue, and a call or FaceTime trying to reach you may be redirected to voicemail immediately, however, these indications being not 100% certain all the time as they can be caused by network problems or device configurations as well.
