I want to permanently delete my Instagram account, not just deactivate it. Can someone walk me through the exact steps to do this, preferably from a desktop?
I found the steps in the thread to be pretty straightforward, but I do want to add that it's also possible to delete your Instagram account directly from the app settings. To do this, go to your profile, tap the three horizontal lines in the top-right corner, select 'Settings,' then scroll down to 'Account' and tap 'Delete Account.' From there, you can follow the prompts to confirm your decision and permanently delete your account.
To delete your Instagram account: 1. Go to the Instagram settings by tapping the three horizontal lines and selecting 'Settings'. 2. Scroll down and tap 'Account' and then 'Delete Your Account'. 3. Enter your password and confirm you want to delete the account. 4. Choose a reason for deletion (optional). 5. Tap 'Permanently delete my account'.
Just go to the account deletion page on Instagram from your browser, log in, pick a reason, enter your password, and hit “Delete” it’s pretty straightforward, I did it once when I needed a break and it worked smoothly

Here’s how to delete your Instagram account step by step:
Log in to Instagram via a web browser (account deletion isn’t available in the app).
Go to the Delete Your Account page: instagram.com/accounts/remove/request.
Select a reason for deletion from the dropdown.
Re-enter your password to confirm.
Click Permanently delete my account.
Your profile, photos, videos, and data will be permanently removed. Instagram may keep some data for legal reasons, and you cannot recover your account after deletion.

yeah, jade's steps are spot on for doing it from a browser. just make sure you're cool with it because even though it says 'delete,' instagram usually gives you a 30-day window where you can log back in and cancel the deletion if you change your mind. after that, it's really gone though.
