I've been trying to change my Facebook password for hours, I kept getting an error message saying 'something went wrong' but I think the problem was that I wasn't using the correct password reset method. I tried the 'forgot password' option and it worked eventually, I just had to enter my email address and Facebook sent me a reset link to my email which I used to change my password.

If you want to change your Facebook password, then go to Settings & Privacy Settings Accounts Center Password and Security Change Password, after which you re-type your current password as well as the new one you intend to use. I personally had to do this once when I forgot my old password, and the process was fairly simple as long as you have your current login information to hand.
