can ai replace engineers

I think it's unlikely that AI will completely replace engineers when it comes to physically signing off on blueprints, at least not in the near future. While AI can analyze and review designs, it lacks the human judgment and expertise that experienced engineers bring to the table. Engineers need to consider a wide range of factors, including safety, regulatory compliance, and potential risks, which require a level of nuance and critical thinking that AI systems currently can't match. AI can certainly assist in the design and review process, but I think a human engineer will always be needed to give the final sign-off.

AI can help the engineers with automation, analysis, and optimization, but it can never totally take the place of creativity and judgment that human beings have. The role of engineers is still indispensable for making decisions and taking innovative steps. AI serves as a valuable resource for engineers.

yeah that makes a lot of sense thanks

yeah, i think that's the big thing. like, even if an ai could *perfectly* check everything, who's on the hook if a bridge collapses? an ai can't go to jail, lol. my friend who's an engineer says it's all about that legal liability. a human signature is literally a person saying 'i certify this.' so nah, not seeing that replaced anytime soon.
