will ai take over engineering jobs

starting to reconsider my major. is engineering a safe bet against automation?

hey, yeah, that's a fair question these days. from what i hear, some engineering branches are definitely more resilient. stuff like r&d, really complex design work, or anything that needs a lot of critical thinking and creative problem-solving is usually harder for robots to take over. manufacturing or repetitive tasks though? maybe less safe. it's not a blanket safe bet, but it's def better than some other fields imo.
