Is Snapchat Safe for Kids?

Snapchat is not recommended for kids under 13 due to its minimum age requirement. While it offers Family Center parental controls and safety features, the disappearing content, location sharing (Snap Map), and risk of inappropriate content or contact from strangers pose significant risks that require active parental supervision.

Snapchat isn’t fully safe for kids. Features like disappearing messages, location sharing, and friend requests from strangers can pose risks. Without supervision, kids may encounter inappropriate content or privacy issues. With parental controls, restricted settings, and active monitoring, it can be safer—but it’s still better suited for older teens.
