How To Unsend an Email in Gmail?

I mistakenly sent an email in Gmail, and now I'm wondering if there's any way for me to unsend it. I came across the "Undo Send" option and heard it mentioned, but I don't really know how it can be done or if the feature works after the email is sent. Can you only undo an email in Gmail straight away, or is it also possible after a few minutes? Please, provide me with the instructions for the desktop and mobile versions if possible. Thanks in advance!

To unsend an email in Gmail, enable the “Undo Send” feature. Go to Settings > See all settings > General, then set the cancellation period (5–30 seconds). After sending an email, click “Undo” in the bottom-left popup within the time limit. The message will reopen as a draft so you can edit or delete it.

click the undo button at the bottom left right after you send it

Totally agree with logan_walker, that undo button is a lifesaver! Just wanna add, seriously, go into your settings and set that cancellation period to the full 30 seconds. It's saved my butt so many times when I've hit send too fast and immediately regretted it. 5 seconds is basically useless, lol. tbh, it's one of the best features in Gmail for preventing facepalms.

Totally agree with everyone emphasizing the 30-second window! Tbh, the default 5 seconds feels practically useless sometimes. It's just enough time to panic but not enough to actually click 'undo'. Maxing it out is literally the first thing I do on any new Gmail setup now. It's saved me from so many facepalm moments with typos or wrong attachments. Super important tip for real.

, click Undo immediately after sending an email. Gmail’s “Undo Send” works only for a short cancellation window (up to 30 seconds). To change the limit: Settings → See all settings → Undo Send → Send cancellation period.

To unsend an email in Gmail, click Settings > See all settings > General > Undo Send, set cancellation period. After sending, click “Undo” within the time limit (5–30 seconds). The email will be recalled before it reaches recipient’s inbox.

To unsend an email in Gmail, you must use the “Undo Send” feature immediately after sending the message. After you send an email, a small pop-up appears at the bottom of the screen with an Undo option click it within the allowed time limit (usually 5–30 seconds). You can increase this cancellation period by going to Gmail Settings → See all settingsUndo Send and selecting a longer send cancellation period.

So you're getting the "this site can't be reached" error, that's pretty frustrating. I've had that happen to me before too, usually it's just a simple issue like my internet connection being down or the website being temporarily offline. Have you tried checking your internet connection or restarting your router? Sometimes that can fix the problem right away. If that doesn't work, you might want to try clearing your browser's cache or trying to access the site from a different browser to see if it's a browser-specific issue.

"Hey guys, if you're looking to unsend an email in Gmail, you've got a few options. The 'Undo Send' feature can be enabled in the Gmail settings, which will give you 5-30 seconds to recall an email (depending on your browser settings). Alternatively, you can use the 'Send cancellation add-on' which offers more flexibility."
