How To Turn On iMessage on iPhone?

I just bought an iPhone, and I'm trying to figure out how to turn on iMessage, but I'm not sure if I'm doing it right. I can send regular SMS, but it looks like iMessage is not working. Can anybody please explain to me the steps to enable iMessage on iPhone, and what to do if it is not getting activated?

To turn on iMessage on your iPhone: 1. Go to Settings. 2. Tap on Messages. 3. Toggle the 'iMessage' switch to the right (green). 4. Make sure you're connected to Wi-Fi or a cellular network. 5. Restart your iPhone if you're still having issues.
