Google Android cellular data lawsuit: what it means for users

There's apparently a lawsuit about Android phones using cellular data in the background without people realising it. Has anyone been following this one? Wondering what it actually means for regular users, and whether there's anything we're supposed to do or claim because of it.

It is basically a lawsuit claiming Android phones secretly send background data to Google even when you are not actively using them. If a settlement ever goes through you might get a tiny check in the mail down the road

It means Google may pay Android users for alleged background cellular data use without consent. Eligible U.S. users may claim settlement money; Google denies wrongdoing.

The Google Android cellular data lawsuit centers on claims that Android devices were sending data back to Google servers in the background using users’ paid cellular data plans, even when apps were closed, phones were idle, or certain tracking settings were disabled. Google denied wrongdoing but agreed to a $135 million settlement in a federal class action case covering many U.S. Android users.
