Best Snipping Tool for Mac

Looking for the best snipping tool for Mac—any suggestions? I’m trying to find a Mac-compatible screenshot/markup app that's quick, easy, and has useful features like annotations or sharing. What do you recommend?

The built-in macOS Screenshot Utility (Command + Shift + 5) is often considered the best, as it is free and native. For advanced features like cloud storage, scrolling captures, and powerful annotation, Snagit and CleanShot X are top-rated third-party alternatives.

These are the best Mac apps that I've tried:
  • For fast screenshots, use the built-in screenshot tool (Shift + Command + 4 or 5).
  • Snagit is excellent for editing, taking scrolling screenshots, and recording videos.
  • With cloud storage and annotation tools, CleanShot X boasts an incredibly clean interface.
  • Lightshot is quick, easy, and free for basic use.
I mainly use CleanShot X because, if you take screenshots frequently, it's worth it.

For most users, the native macOS Screenshot Tool (Cmd + Shift + 5) is excellent and free, offering capture, recording, and basic editing. For professionals needing advanced features like scrolling capture and better editing, paid tools like Snagit and CleanShot X are top choices.
